Colonial Secretary's Office,
HONG KONG.
17th July, 1939.
Dear Huxham,
Thank you for your letter of 4th July
enclosing a letter from Chambers with regard to
Income Tax. As we have referred the matter to
the Colonial Office, I have not felt able to enter
into negotiations with him, but have written to him
direct explaining the position. I have also sent
copies of the correspondence semi-officially to
Gent at the Colonial Office.
Actually Chambers looks as if he might
be too heavy and too expensive a gun for us, but
possibly his advice as to some other person might
be useful.
The Honourable
Kr. H.J. Huxham, C..G.,
Financial Secretary,
CEYLON.
Yours sincerely,
(Sd.) S. Caine.
